The PURPOSE
  • Create a series of projects that demonstrate your BEST work in each of the areas we've studied this semester, specifically:
    • Digital Literacy & Computer Knowledge
    • Productivity Software: Word Processing, Spreadsheets
    • Design Software: Photoshop & HTML
  • Demonstrate all the skills and competencies that you have accumulated to date
  • Show how these skills could be realistically applied to a real world business situation
  • Demonstrate your ability to RESEARCH each of the required components to achieve professional looking results

01. Word Processed Proposal
  • Content:
    • What your survey will be all about, what questions you are going to ask, and what you hope to prove through your analysis
  • Format:
    • Neatly presented, appropriately demonstrating the use of tabs, hanging indents and alignment

02. Spreadsheet with Survey Results
  • Content:
    • Survey results
  • Format:
    • Labeled columns, Frozen titles

03. Spreadsheet Analysis and Graphs
  • Content:
    • Accurate and appropriate survey calculations in a spreadsheet file
    • Charts made from the spreadsheet calculations (stored within the spredsheet)
  • Format:
    • Appropriate graph styles, Titles, labels, legends

04. Website written in proper HTML
  • Content:
    • A frontpage (index.htm) that looks good and announces the nature of your survey
    • Pages for each logical supporting page available through a menu bar
    • Charts from your analysis available through thumbnails and Links in appropriate pages
    • An "Autobiography" page that has YOUR picture and a description of YOU
  • Format:
    • Proper HTML following the rules
    • Consistency

TECHNOLOGY Survey

What do we mean by "technology"?
There are plenty of good answers - but read from a few different sources to create your BEST answer.

Our definition:
"Technology" refers to our knowledge and use of TOOLS and SKILLS
  • It allows us to:
    • provide ourselves with material things
    • shape our environment
    • solve problems

"Computer Technology" is only ONE type of technology
  • Make a list of other types can you find reference to. Do they fit this definition?
  • Pick a specific type of technology that TRULY interests you
  • Identify a group or individual in the school that could benefit from a survey analysis and report
  • You are to design, conduct and present a meaningful SURVEY within the school that will shed light on the people who work here. Ideally it will accurately give us a snapshot of "what is normal", "who we are", and "what we think".
  • Conduct a survey of at least 25-50 people
  • Store the information in a spreadsheet
  • Create calculations that draw at least 5 conclusions from the data
  • Generate appropriate graphs
  • Present your findings in a well constructed websites
  • Survey topics could:
    • Revolve around the use of TECHNOLOGY among students and staff::
      • Cell Phone use
      • Computer Use
      • Software Use
      • Gadget Use
    • Revolve around school organizations or subjects and what might make them more effective:
      • Yearbook sales
    • Student Life & Culture
    • Relate to BUSINESS and MONEY - ie. the expense people are willing to pay for technology
    • Collect information that is objective, measurable, and comparable** when stored in spreadsheet format. You can include:
      • Answers from a finite list of possibilities
      • Dollar values
      • Yes/No
      • Gender
